A quick reminder: Your “Aircooled” engine is, as its name indicates, air cooled and ONLY air cooled.
It is therefore the air that cools the engine oil.
It is therefore very important to check and control your engine oil regularly.
The oil temperature gauge is therefore an excellent means of checking that the engine cooling system is working properly.
