Improve the braking performance of your Bay window bus by converting the front brakes from drum to discs with this top quality EMPI brake kit. Can be used with standard 14″ steel wheels. The kit only fits LHD buses.
This kit won’t work with dropped spindles. Step-by-step instructions are included. You must use DOT3 brake fluid only.
The kit features heavy duty brake caliper brackets that bolt directly to your stock spindles and a 5x205mm disc brake rotor that accepts the stock 14×1.5mm lug bolts.
All you need for the conversion is included: a new master cylinder with reservoir, front brake hoses, bearings, seals, grease caps, a residual pressure valve and all necessary installation hardware including Loctite and wheel studs if you are not running stock wheels.
The EMPI Type 2 Disc Brake Conversion Kit will clear stock Bus 14″ VW wheels, and most all stock and aftermarket 15″ and larger wide 5 VW wheels. Some cap clearancing may be needed on aftermarket wheels.
The disc brake conversion kit will narrow the front track width 2.8mm. The master cylinder does not have a residual pressure valve so the kit includes an inline check valve and a brake line to be used for the rear drum brakes.

ATTENTION: The brake master cylinder reservoir supplied in the kit is not the remote fill type.
It must therefore be filled with a syringe, or by creating an opening in the floor (a procedure we do not recommend).
Our advice is to purchase the additional reservoir code 211611313H + two seals 211611817A in order to fill the tank remotely as originally intended.
