This rear valance includes a mounting location for an additional switch, designed for the engine compartment lighting or the alarm system. This protects the wiring, a feature that was never standard on European VW Beetles.
You can remove the switch housing and the cable grommet, then weld the hole shut if you wish to maintain a 100% original condition.
If authenticity isn’t important to you, you may want to consider using this additional switch.
This panel also does not include a retaining strip for the engine lid seal; if you wish to mount it on the rear panel, as in the original design, you’ll need to purchase the retaining strip separately.
