With the safety-cut-out, the electric fuel pump is switched off when, e.g. in the event of an accident, the engine stops and the ignition remains switched on.
This device also protects the fuel pump against damage (risk of overheating), which can occur when the engine stops, but the ignition is still on.
Comes with relais plus socket, universal wiring Loom and detailed assembly instructions.
For safety reasons, the fuel pump should not pump when the engine is off. This is not a problem with a mechanical pump but becomes a problem when switching to an electric pump.
In this case, this safety relay ensures that the pump does not run when the engine is stopped and the ignition switch remains on. In the event of an accident, it prevents fuel from being pumped out of the tank and serving as fuel for a possible fire.
For this reason, CSP’s safety shutoff relay is a compact solution that ensures just that. When the ignition is turned on, the relay activates the fuel pump for about 2 seconds and then turns it off again if the engine is not started.
This prevents the risk of overheating the pump. Therefore, the relay is activated only when it is detected that the engine is running through the connection to the ignition coil. If the engine stops, the relay cuts off power to the fuel pump.
Simple. Safe. Proven.
The updated version of the CSP safety relay provides:
Relay manufactured specifically in Europe for CSP
Sophisticated technology and state-of-the-art construction for maximum safety against failure
Short fuel priming when the instrument cluster is turned on, thus better starting behavior due to correct filling of the carburetor bowl
New wiring harness with VW-specific wire colors for clear wiring connection inside the vehicle
Wide range of high-quality cable lugs
Adapted mounting material for use with Pierburg fuel pump (part number S13083G)
Closed fuse holder for ideal positioning in the power supply area of the electrical circuit
Improved and detailed mounting instructions (below in PDF link)
In addition, it is universally applicable to all electric gasoline pumps, for switching daytime running lights, rear window or other electrical loads with a maximum current draw of 8A.
It can be used with conventional ignition systems.
CAUTION The resistance of the ignition coil must not be less than 2 ohms on the primary winding.
